If you want to understand how acupuncture works, you need to understand the points. Each point has numerous functions.
For example, if you have pain, specific acupuncture points on the affected meridian can be treated to restore healthy blood flow, and relieve pain. In Chinese medicine, pain is caused by a blockage of circulation.
If you want to treat stress, for example, you can use points like Liver 3, and Spleen 6. These points regulate the liver energy. They strongly relax the body.
But in addition to treating stress, Spleen 6 also reduces excess fluid in the body, balances hormones, improves fertility, and strengthens the kidney, liver, and spleen. Each point has so many functions that you could spend several pages discussing how you might want to use each one.

I wrote the book, Acupuncture Points Handbook, because I wanted a book that I could recommend to my patients as an easy reference. I also wanted to remove anything that would confuse people, such as insertion angle, and depth, as well as Chinese references that would make no sense to them.
I hope you enjoy it.
